A Community-Based Wellness Study Exploring the Effects of Sound Baths on Sleep

Do you struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep, or wake feeling truly rested?

You’re not alone — and you’re invited to take part in a community-based wellness study exploring how sound bath meditation may support deeper, more restorative sleep.

This study blends the ancient practice of sound healing with modern sleep tracking technology to gently observe how regular sound baths may influence sleep quality, restfulness, and nervous system balance.

Why Sound Bath Meditation?

Sound bath meditation uses harmonic tones and vibrational frequencies to support deep relaxation and activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the part of the body responsible for rest and restoration.

Many people report feeling calmer, more grounded, and better able to sleep after sound bath experiences. This study offers a structured way to observe those changes over time.

 This is a non-medical, observational wellness study designed to explore the potential benefits of weekly sound bath meditation on sleep.

Participants will attend free guided sound bath sessions and use their Apple Watch to track sleep data before, during, and after the study period. The goal is to better understand patterns of rest and relaxation — not to diagnose or treat sleep disorders.

This study may be a good fit for you if you:

  • Struggle with falling asleep or staying asleep
  • Wake feeling tired or unrested
  • Experience stress, restlessness, or nighttime overthinking
  • Own and regularly wear an Apple Watch
  • Are curious about sound healing and nervous system regulation

No prior experience with sound baths is required.

What We're Exploring

Using Apple Watch sleep data, we’ll observe changes in:

  • Total sleep time
  • Sleep stages (deep, REM, core)
  • Nighttime awakenings
  • Resting heart rate and heart rate variability (when available)

All data is de-identified and kept confidential. Results may be shared in aggregate for educational purposes.

✖ Not a treatment or cure for sleep disorders

✖ Not a replacement for professional healthcare

Interested in Participating?

 

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Struggle with sleep, such as difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking feeling unrested
  • Own and regularly wear an Apple Watch with sleep tracking enabled
  • Are willing to attend  free  weekly sound bath sessions
  • Agree to wear your Apple Watch nightly during the study
  • Are able to provide informed consent
     

This study may not be a good fit if you:

  • Have a diagnosed sleep disorder currently under medical treatment (such as untreated sleep apnea or narcolepsy)
  • Regularly use prescription sleep medications
  • Work overnight shifts or have highly irregular sleep schedules
  • Have a medical or psychiatric condition that could be adversely affected by sound or deep relaxation
  • Are unable to attend sound bath sessions consistently for the duration of the study
  • Are uncomfortable with sharing de-identified sleep data from your Apple Watch

If you’re unsure whether you qualify, you’re encouraged to reach out — we’re happy to help you decide if this study is a good fit.

No prior experience with sound baths or meditation is required.

What Participation Looks Like

 

Participants will:


  • Wear an Apple Watch nightly to track sleep two weeks prior to, during, and after completion of study


  • Share logs from Apple Health indicating total sleep time, sleep stages, nighttime awakening, resting heart rate and Heart Rate Variability


  • Attend weekly 75 minute sound bath sessions:  March 31, April 7, April 14, April 21


  • Maintain their usual sleep routines


  • Optionally complete brief self-reflection or sleep questionnaires


Time: 6:00–7:15 PM

Each session will include a guided settling period followed by an immersive sound bath designed to support deep relaxation and nervous system balance.


This is a community based wellness study, not a medical program.  Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time.
